The Aruanã Project, located on the Vergueiro family's 12,000-hectare property in Itacoatiara, Amazonas, Brazil, exemplifies environmental responsibility. Established in 1969, the farm initially intended to clear 50% of its land for pasture. However, in 1975, after deforesting around 1,000 hectares, the owners shifted their focus to reforesting with native species. Today, the property is home to the largest area of Brazil nut trees in the Amazon, covering 1,400 hectares, and plays a significant role in conservation efforts.
